Pamela King Smith, MS, CPA
Pamela holds a Bachelor of Science Degree in Accounting from Virginia State University and a Masters of Science in Taxation from the University of Baltimore. She has over twenty six years of experience in the public accounting arena and is the firm's administrative and tax principal.
As President, she oversees the personnel, office administration, and strategic planning aspects of the firm. Pamela also serves as audit partner on numerous engagements involving non-profit and federally funded organizations. She supervises several firm audit engagements conducted in accordance with Government Auditing Standards(Yellow Book) and OMB Circular A-133 auditing standards. Additionally, she provides on-going accounting and budgeting services for various non-profit organizations by providing compliance related matters with respect to funding sources requirements and Board imposed restrictions on the use of funds.
She is a former member of the Maryland State Board of Public Accountancy and currently a Board Member and Chair of the Audit Committee of Industrial Bank of Washington, the nation’s fourth largest minority controlled banking institution.
Kara King-Bess, MBA, CPA
Kara holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting from Virginia State University and a Masters of Business Administration from Columbia University. Kara, as the firm's audit principal and Vice President, is responsible for the scheduling, planning, and direction of firm audit engagements. She has over twenty five years of public accounting experience, combined with internships with Fortune 500 companies and an international accounting firm during her graduate studies.
She is the lead auditor on numerous audit engagements of not-for-profit, and government funded organizations conducted in accordance with GAO and OMB Circular A-133 auditing standards. Kara has completed a developer sponsored training course for not-for-profit accounting software and successfully installed and trained client personnel in its use. Additionally, she completed the AICPA's Personal Financial Planning program developed to further educate CPAs interested in providing financial planning services to their clients.
Kara was appointed to the Maryland State Board of Public Accountancy and served for a six-year term in this capacity. She is currently a board member of the Baltimore City Industrial Development Authority, Board Chair of Advance Bank, board member of AAA Mid Atlantic, board member of the Greater Baltimore Medical Center, and a former board member of the Maryland Association of Certified Public Accountants. Her professional affiliations include the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, Maryland Association of Certified Public Accountants, and the National Association of Black Accountants.
Anthony G. King, MS, CPA, CGMA
Tony has more than 30 years of corporate finance and public accounting experience. Tony is experienced in evaluating and implementing financial plans, procedures, and cash management controls. His broad spectrum of activities performed in the public and private environments include banking and treasury functions, corporate accounting procedures, tax accounting research and compliance, insurance and risk management functions, and evaluations and designs of technology based financial information systems.
Tony currently directs the firm’s business advisory and consulting practice. He is responsible for all information technology and management advisory engagements. Tony also provides CFO, tax compliance and general accounting services for many of the firm’s for profit clients in the technology, hospitality, retail, and professional services industries.
His corporate experiences include Controller, Vice President of Finance for two national hospitality management firms, Assistant Vice President Finance for the nation’s tenth largest insurance brokerage firm, as well as a Supervisor of Tax and Treasury functions for a Big 4 accounting firm.
Tony holds a Master of Science degree in Management Information Systems and a Bachelor of Science degree in Accounting. He is a licensed CPA in Maryland, New York, New Jersey and North Carolina and holds the Chartered Global Management Accountant (CGMA) designation.
His professional affiliations include the American Institute of CPAs, Maryland Association of CPAs, National Association of Black Accountants (NABA), Chartered Institute of Management Accountants, and Information Systems Audit and Control Association (ISACA). Tony served as Board Treasurer of the Alzheimer’s Association of Central Maryland and is a volunteer instructor at the Small Business Resource Development Center of Baltimore. He is also a former member of the Executive Committee of the AICPA’s Private Companies Practice Section (PCPS). He is also the Immediate Past Chairman of NABA’s Division of Firms, a nationwide consortium of minority owned accounting and consulting firms.
